Steam cleaning, or hot water extraction, is the method used to clean carpets, rugs, and upholstery. The process includes four steps: vacuum the carpet, spray detergent on, inject water into the carpet with a high-pressure jet spray, and vacuum the water out. This is the preferred method of carpet cleaning, as it is the most effective one and is recommended by manufacturers. Steam cleaning invigorates and prolongs the carpet life.
